📣 General Welcome Space

hi my name is Laura and i’m 26 years old. I was diagnosed with scoliosis at age 6 caused by a condition called  neurofibromatosis which I was born with. I was then braced from ages 6-12. At age 12 I had at my routine XRay appointment it appeared everything has gotten worse quickly and needed the surgery ASAP, In 2012 when I was 12 i had a full double spinal fusion, back and front of my entire spine is fused from the top to the bottom.

My life has revolved around dance since I was 3 years old, hearing the dr’s tell me that might not be possible again was hard. 6 months after my surgery I was back in my dance studio , with many ups and downs , chronic pain, permanent nerve damage , in and out of the ER and Pain Rehabs due to issues with my recovery I am still dancing. Not only that I am also a dance teacher now. After seeing Meredith’s video she posted of her also dancing I knew I had to join this group. I’ve been looking  for a spine community to meet new people, share stories and grow friendships with and i’m so happy to have found this one 💚💪🏻
